Back in Business

Yin and I are now the proud owners of two hairless cats. I remarked to Yin after the untimely demise of our last pet, tiger, that I really wasn't interested in having another animal with fur. I figured that lined us up for a pleasant life of fish or maybe here and there a bird. Never one to settle for a challenge, Yin came up with the hairless cat idea. Gollum, a male, is all blue/grey and quite active. Freya, a female tortie, is less active, but still full of personality. Hairless cats, aside from their nearly prohibitive cost, are quite good pets. No hair on the couch when you sit down, and so far our allergic friends have not reacted to the cats in any way shape or form. They are also quite personable, unlike other cats we have had in the past that would just as soon scratch out your eyes and hang out.

We constructed a "kitty condo" for them when we first got them because I'll be damned if I'm going to pay 150 bucks for some scrap lumber and carpet. They enjoy playing on that. They can really jump, although not so much lately because we got them fixed. Freya has to wear an Elizabethan collar so she doesn't chew out her staples. She looks like an Austrailian frilled neck lizard. Its funny in a tragic sort of way.
