Chinese officials responded to criticisms that the national media censored Cheney's speech. They didn't censor Cheney-they just edited his remarks! Rather than "rising prosperity and expanded political freedom" the transcripts simply stated "rising prosperity." That is not censorship. That is editing. They "edited" out discussion of Taiwan, North Korea, and numerous references to political freedom. See the NY Times report
